I cannot wait until this book is released! I hope you get to DC , I want you to sign this one, also! I have every recipe book you have pictured. Let us know your plans, please? You rock, Dorie!
You left out the book where I first “met” you—Paris Sweets! That little book still holds a special place for me, even though I have them all. See you next month in NY. Already have my tix!
Lisa - thank you! I love Paris Sweets, too. It was such a wonderful book to work on. So glad you have tickets for the New York conversation with Jane Bertch - see you soon - xoD
Can’t wait for the new book to be released! I hope there will be tips included for how to store & freeze cakes - sometimes I get the itch to bake a cake but not enough people around to eat an entire cake!
This is the best news! #teamcake for the win! I have been a big fan for many years and absolutely love Baking From My Home to Yours. If you need an enthusiastic and experienced recipe tester, I would be so happy to help. I’ll message you on Instagram from @lauramcc88. Thank you!
Congratulations, Dorie! I'm on #teamcake and I love, love, love the title Kitchen Cakes. It reminds me of our down home Kitchen Parties in Atlantic Canada, where the whole gang gathers casually around the kitchen table for music, laughter, good conversation, a strong cup of tea, and something homey to eat. I'm sure the cakes in your new book would be exactly what would be brought out for one and all to tuck in to.
That's something you can count on, Dorie! I'm making your Molasses Spice cookies this afternoon (my husbands fave), and tomorrow is your Everyday Bread from Baking with Dorie. I've made it about elebenty-hundred times now and it comes out perfectly every single time.
I’m very excited to hear this I can’t wait to dive into it! Just a few days ago I made your Swedish Fika Cake for the first time from Baking With Dorie. It is so incredible it’s my new favorite.
Yes, how sweet of you to notice! I just finished the last slice which I had wrapped in the freezer, the taste and texture was very well preserved. The Fika Cake did not have freezer recommendations so I looked at other recipes of yours and I notice that you sometimes recommend freezing and sometimes not. I’m wondering if you test freezing as part of your process?
I know this will be a very successful project. So many love to bake.
Alas, me, not so much.
What’s your take on an appetizer book? So many times we go to the usual ones we are used to. But different ones that aren’t complex would be so helpful. Ones we would have never even thought of trying.
Sunny, this is interesting. I'm committed to cakes now, but appetizers and appetizers that can become part of a kind of pick-up/picnic meal are favorites of mine. I'm trying to think of a book that's just apps and I'm drawing a blank now - xoD
Pajama cakes!! These are my favorite kinds of cakes too; and I know this will be a treasure!! I love that you wrote here about titles, I find them such torture because I always want something poetic and yet my (smart) agent and editors know something more straightforward will better serve the book. I’m excited to see here this one lands Dorie!! Xx
P.S. hi to darling Mary Dodd, you are both so lucky to have each other. 🤍
Titles! They're so hard. I once had a proposal for a book sit on my desk for too long - I'd done all the hard stuff, all the figuring out stuff, all the writing, but I couldn't think of a title. And then, as you know, the title we start with isn't always the one we finish with - lots of smart poeple weigh in. It's a process! Hugs to you, wonderful Sarah - xoD
A comment on Modernist pizza, which is a wonderful tasting dough; however, you might suggest that people rub a little olive oil on the rounds as they rise, both rises. I didn’t and mine stuck badly to the plastic wrap with just the floured rounds. Love Around my French table!
Please, please, please give us a sneak peak at a few of the recipes!
I'll be sharing many things as I work - thanks for being interested - xoD
This is so exciting, congrats Dorie! I love cake so I might need to make an excuse to come over and taste all the recipes😉
Nik! How much would I love for you to come over and taste? Sooooooo much - xoD
I AM SO EXCITED!!! I love Baking with Dorie so much and have a deep love for cake so I will be preordering the moment you say it’s available💖💖💖
Thank you, thank you, Amanda. I'm excited about the book and it makes me so happy to know that you are too - xoD
