First, happy birthday! Second, I cried when you wrote about Joshua surprising you. That’s me—always emotional when it comes to our “kids.” Third, I saw the Dior exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum—my daughter, Emma, and I were stunned. The clothing, the fabrics, the details— I only wish my mom, Selma, could have toured the exhibit with us, as she was a seamstress, sewing a lot of my clothing during my childhood. Fourth, and I’ll close with this: a dear friend who lives in Truro, on Cape Cod, texted me after the election results, saying, “I’m going to focus on work, family, and friends.” I’m trying to do the same. There’s enough animosity in the world and I, for one, will try to spread joy and love.❤️
Have a safe trip home both of you. And belated Happy Birthday. Dorie you bring such joy..guess I rhymed there. But your cookbooks are the best..and I have a lot of cookbooks!
Belated happy birthday! I had my first (and best) Paris Brest at Bistro Paul Bert about 20 years ago. Thank you for reminding me of that delicious pastry and I hope that recipe is in the book!
I just made your Chocolate-Cornmeal Biscotti for Thanksgiving. I replaced the sliced almonds with toasted hazelnuts that I just brought back from Piedmont in Italy. Delish!!
Hazelnuts from Piedmont would make anything taste great! I'm so glad that you like the biscotti - I like the idea of having them for Thanksgiving - xoD
I am so glad you have a good time. Josh is looking so very grown up. I live in the same circumstances with a wife and two daughters but at least I have a male dog. Are you free for Thanksgiving, by any chance?
Josh(ua) IS grown-up - funny for both of us, right? Thanksgiving - I still remember your fried chicken. I'll write to you and Janet - in the meantime, I send hugs - xoD
I just had a birthday too, maybe it was the same day! And I suspect we are within a year in age! Nothing exciting like Paris for me, but I did have a lovely birthday dinner which included my favorite, sticky toffee pudding. Happy Birthday to a fellow Scorpio!
Happy Birthday, Dorie! It’s fun when our kids and grandkids get to celebrate our birthdays with us, isn’t it? Safe travels home to you and your family.
It looks like Gemma’s original message read “Happy Birthyay!” Yay, indeed. Thanks for all the joy you share—now more than ever!
Cherie! I didn't see that. I love it. From now on, let's wish everyone a Happy Birthyay - seems right - xoD
