It looks like Gemma’s original message read “Happy Birthyay!” Yay, indeed. Thanks for all the joy you share—now more than ever!

I was at the Dior Gallery last week and it’s wonderful, but unless you qualify for free admission (students, journalists etc) it does indeed cost 14 euros!

First, happy birthday! Second, I cried when you wrote about Joshua surprising you. That’s me—always emotional when it comes to our “kids.” Third, I saw the Dior exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum—my daughter, Emma, and I were stunned. The clothing, the fabrics, the details— I only wish my mom, Selma, could have toured the exhibit with us, as she was a seamstress, sewing a lot of my clothing during my childhood. Fourth, and I’ll close with this: a dear friend who lives in Truro, on Cape Cod, texted me after the election results, saying, “I’m going to focus on work, family, and friends.” I’m trying to do the same. There’s enough animosity in the world and I, for one, will try to spread joy and love.❤️

Belated happy birthday! I had my first (and best) Paris Brest at Bistro Paul Bert about 20 years ago. Thank you for reminding me of that delicious pastry and I hope that recipe is in the book!

I just made your Chocolate-Cornmeal Biscotti for Thanksgiving. I replaced the sliced almonds with toasted hazelnuts that I just brought back from Piedmont in Italy. Delish!!

I am so glad you have a good time. Josh is looking so very grown up. I live in the same circumstances with a wife and two daughters but at least I have a male dog. Are you free for Thanksgiving, by any chance?

I just had a birthday too, maybe it was the same day! And I suspect we are within a year in age! Nothing exciting like Paris for me, but I did have a lovely birthday dinner which included my favorite, sticky toffee pudding. Happy Birthday to a fellow Scorpio!
