Thank you, Dorie, for promoting this very interesting book. Great recipes and a great writer? A win-win in my book! I think I’ll pre-order, although I’m running out of room for more cookbooks! Safe travels and welcome home—to Paris I guess?—to you and Michael once you land!
Susan, don't we wish that cookbook space were magically expandable! Thanks for the good wishes - Michael and I are back in Paris and hoping that the jet lag will clear quickly - xoD
Glad you’re back. Jet lag is tough. My husband and daughter flying back from Hong Kong Saturday/Sunday. It’ll take them a few days to re-acclimate. Give yourselves time…
Susan, it does take time to acclimate. Many people say you have to figure one day for each hour of time difference! I think I'm too impatient for jet lag. I hope your husband and daughter had a great trip that their jet lag will be mild and short-lived - xoD
Bonjour Dorie, Thanks for introducing us to this intriguing book. I was looking at the book sample on Amazon and it showed the list of recipes. This is something I wish they would always show for a cookbook, as skimming through the list helps me decide if it is for me. Anyway, I noticed under pastas, there are recipe for pasta 'using a scale' and 'without a scale'. How interesting.
Marsha, I hadn't thought about it, but having a list of recipes is, indeed, a great idea! Hard when there are many recipes, but invaluable to potential readers/cooks/buyers - xoD
Very intriguing book! Love the egg diagram and the tease of a Tweaked Tomato Butter Sauce (aka Marcella's sauce!). Though of course the pancake is the VEHICLE for great maple syrup like Deep Mountain Maple or Greene Maple Farm....to name just a couple. Yum!!
Mariangela, I know a lot of people who'd agree with you about the pancake being the vehicle for the syrup (pure maple syrup is a thing of beauty), but I'm putting in a word for these pancakes - they carry syrup really well, but they're so good that they don't really need much - xoD
How fascinating that there could be a whole cookbook about someone obsessed with finding the best recipe. Thanks for pointing this out. Those pancakes look fantastic.
Thanks for the heads up about this book! Sounds interesting! Safe travels !
Mardi, I definitely think you'd love this book! xoD

I will always try a new pancake recipe (feels low-stakes). These look fabulous.
Clare, try'em, try'em. I think you'll love'em - xoD

Dianne, it's a really interesting premise and the author, Ella Quittner, carries it off really well - xoD
